Amanoi Vietnam luxury at its finest

Vietnam is fast becoming the new “it” destination in SE Asia for luxury travelers. Amanoi is the crème de la crème of the luxury resorts in Vietnam. If you can splurge on only one luxury property during your trip to Vietnam, Amanoi is a perfect choice. It is just the best offering in Vietnam!

The Location:

Amanoi is approximately 90 minutes by complimentary car service from Cam Ranh International Airport and 2 hours from Nha Trang. The somewhat isolated location is perfect for those who want to experience “real life” Vietnam, but still, be close enough to the city for a day excursion.

We have been fortunate to have stayed at other Aman properties and are always impressed with the location of the resort. Amanoi does not disappoint. The 100-acre property is tucked within the coast of Nui Chua National Park. This conservation site protects the surrounding mountains and ocean from exploited development that is, unfortunately, occurring in many areas of Vietnam.

Upon arrival at Cam Ranh, we were greeted by a member of Amanoi’s staff. After collecting our baggage, we were whisked away to the resort’s vehicle. Amanoi had everything ready for our transport to the resort. Cold towels to refresh ourselves, cold water and snacks for nourishment, and most importantly- WiFi access. Amanoi even provides an iPad for guests to use during the ride. Our little guy also got his own, excellent baby car seat.

The Property:

Upon arrival, the grand entry to the Central Pavilion set the tone for our stay. We were greeted like royalty and treated to a refreshingly cold ginger tea. One thing we learned from our trip to Vietnam is that our munchkin LOVES ginger. Even though the tea had a spicy kick from the ginger, Kai couldn’t get enough of the drink.

From the mountain top to the beach, the meandering pathways are exquisitely placed to make guests like us feel as if we’re deep within the forest. However, the expansive resort is easily traveled by buggies.

We were blown away by the majestic beauty of the resort. The forest must grow like crazy and landscaping must take a lot of work to upkeep. However, every pathway and each building is perfectly maintained. Tom and I feel like Aman resorts employ magical workers that invisibly take care of landscaping and housekeeping services. Everything is flawlessly executed, and we sincerely appreciate all of the effort to make each guest’s stay be a dream.

Accommodation:

Amanoi has a fantastic array of accommodations to suit any traveler’s needs. Fusing Aman’s contemporary resort minimalistic esthetic with beautiful Vietnamese overtures, each pavilion and villa provides the perfect home away from home.

We stayed in the Mountain Pool Villa category and could not be more impressed with our accommodations. The expansive villa provides us with over 1,300 square feet of living space, all in open concept. We had our sun deck and an infinity pool that overlooked the beautiful lake and surrounding mountains. There was sufficient space in the minibar refrigerator to store Kai’s bottles and a good number of outlets (both of these are necessities for us)!

As we mentioned earlier, we have no idea how it happens, but our villa was always beautifully made up whenever we returned — many times with gifts. One evening we received a lovely hand embroidered by a local artisans linen bag, and another evening we were gifted with a beautiful hand embroidered makeup bag. Service was beyond exceptional!

Food and Beverage:

Tom and I often feel dining at resorts (with the exception of breakfast at Asian properties which is usually superb), is rather lackluster and overpriced. We were pleasantly surprised by the offerings at Amanoi.

Breakfast in the main dining room is, as mentioned above, fantastic. The Vietnamese coffee was outstanding. Each day, Tom enjoyed the beef pho. The chef special made congee for Kai. I loved the Vietnamese omelet, yogurt, and the bread basket.

For lunch, we dined at the Beach Club. Tom and I loved the banana blossom and mango salads. They were refreshing and flavorful.

Dinner was a little tricky with our munchkin. Instead of eating at the restaurant, we dined at the bar on small plates. It allowed us to have a more casual meal. Also, it’s nice to converse with the bartenders and sip on cocktails.

Activities:

We enjoyed swimming in our villa’s pool each day. However, it was also nice to go down to the beach and take a dip in the ocean. For those who are interested, you can rent non-motorized equipment such as kayaks and paddleboards. The ocean water was too rough for Kai, but he sure did enjoy Amanoi’s main pool.

One afternoon, we wanted to visit the local village. Amanoi’s speedboat took us there from the resort’s beach. It was a quick 10-minute ride around the cove of Vinh Hy Bay to the town of Vinh Hy. This was Kai’s first time in a boat, and he loved it. The village is small, and the tourism industry has yet to develop the area. We recommend visiting before developers discover this gem.

If you love spa treatments, definitely pamper yourself during your stay. Tom and I indulged with a 90-minute Grounding Massage Ritual. It was perfectly relaxing, yet the massage provided deep pressure to alleviate all of our muscle knots. Pure bliss!

For Children:

We are SO IMPRESSED with Amanoi’s ability to host little munchkins. When we checked into our villa, everything we could need for Kai was set up. Inside the bathtub, there was a baby bathtub filled with toys to play in the bath or at the beach, a rubber ducky (so cute), and baby toiletries. By the refrigerator, there was a bottle cleaning solution and brush, as well as a bottle warmer. By the toilet, a baby potty was also provided. The crib was set up and ready for Kai to sleep. The restaurants have a menu for kids, and the staff let us know we can also request special food, not on the menu. If that wasn’t enough, the team gave Kai a beautiful elephant toy to take home.

For parents of children: When you need a break, arrange for babysitting service. Tom and I had someone watch Kai while we had our massage and lunch one afternoon, and we were happy with the care given to our little one.

Summary and Our Tips:

Amanoi is THE premier luxury resort in Vietnam. Although rates are steep, especially compared to other hotels in Vietnam, IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! We cannot recommend Amanoi more highly. The location, grounds, activities, food, and service are beyond amazing. At first, we weren’t sure how accommodating a high-end property such as Amanoi would be for babies. Worry no more, now we know we can easily travel with Kai to Amanoi. In addition to families with babies, Amanoi is the perfect resort for couples, families with older children, and groups. Bottom line: Amanoi is a fantastic place for ANY traveler who desires world-class service and accommodations.
