A few years ago I had just arrived after a twelve hour flight proceeded into the lovely customs corral and was in line for three hours because several international flights were landing and they were short staffed……it seems to never fail.  The last thing I want to do after sitting and waiting to touch down is stand and wait for who knows how long, now there is a solution whether your traveling several times a year or just once or twice having a Global Entry membership is worth the time it saves.  Global Entry allows travelers to skip the long lines of boarder control and customs by using touch screen kiosks upon arrival into the United States at 45 participating airports.  Membership also includes TSA Pre-check which gets travelers through security faster by not removing shoes, belts, or jackets along with not having to get your carry on or laptop checked.

Enrollment starts by filling out the application through the Global Online Enrollment System i.e. GOES along with the $100.00 application fee.  After the application has been reviewed you will be contacted through your GOES account to schedule and interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center.  You must bring a valid passport and one other form of identification, during the interview you will be asked a series of questions as well as fingerprinted and photographed.  Once the application has been approved your Global Entry identification card will be sent via mail and is good for five years of hassle free travel.
