It was a family vacation to Spain and Italy after high school graduation that introduced Julie Gargotta to the thrill of travel. From then on, Julie was hooked, planning trips to visit friends and family around the world. She loves to explore new places and experience diverse cultures, sampling local bites along the way.

Born in Italy to two language professors, Julie was raised in central Pennsylvania. She studied Journalism and Spanish at Temple University in Philadelphia. She then returned to Temple to complete a Master of Journalism degree in 2013, graduating at the top of her program. In addition to English, Julie speaks conversational Spanish and Italian.

Julie now works as a television journalist and freelance writer for various magazines. In her free time, she loves to do ballet, practice yoga, and run half marathons. She also loves exploring her boyfriend’s home country of England and embracing everything, from fish n’ chips to cider.
