Monarch Beach Resort Luxury at its finest

There are so many things to see and do! Laguna Beach has a fantastic art community. The beaches of Laguna Niguel and Dana Point offer spectacular sunsets and a plethora of activities from golfing to surfing. This area epitomizes SoCal beach living and we love to get a taste of it from time to time. Monarch Beach Resort is the perfect place for this experience.

Location and Ambiance:

Situated between Los Angeles and San Diego, Monarch Beach Resort is easily accessible to all Southern California has to offer.  However, if you are like us, you will probably not want to leave.  The property underwent an extensive renovation extending from 2015 into 2016.  The resort has a lovely SoCal/Mediterranean vibe that is chic yet elegant.  Bright and airy common areas truly bring the outside in. The oversized rooms and suites are the perfect place to retreat after a day of activities.

Activities:

A highlight is the property’s own 18-hole golf course that features an amazing beachside location.  Currently ranked “Best Places To Play” by Golf Digest, the course is challenging. However, with a strong golf instruction program, the whole family can play together.

If golf isn’t your thing, no worries. Check out the beach.  Monarch Beach resort has dedicated Surf Hosts to ensure your beach day is perfect. They prepare loungers, towels, and umbrellas for a comfortable day on the sand. Also, Surf Hosts can arrange for surfing lessons, food and beverage service, and watersport equipment rentals. If you’re like Tom and me and prefer the pool, Monarch Beach resort has a stunning main pool overlooking the golf course and ocean with plenty of loungers and cabanas to soak in the California sun.

And of course, there is Miraval Spa. It boasts the same “Life in Balance” philosophy of its’ Tucson, AZ flagship location.  Although we didn’t have a treatment, I did take a TRX inspired class. I enjoyed the workout outdoors overlooking the Pacific, rather than cooped inside the gym.

Dining:

From Chef Michael Mina’s Stonehill Tavern, featuring over 500 wines to the casual Sombra, a poolside Mexican inspired venue, there is something for every taste. Tom and I enjoyed Aveo Table + Bar.  It features Mediterranean fare framed by a perfect backdrop of the glistening azure Pacific. Our favorite place to sit is at the bar. Here, we always enjoy delicious craft cocktails paired with fresh and satisfying dishes.

Our Tip:

Monarch Beach Resort is a fantastic place to get away and experience the elegant and vibrant Southern California coast.  With an ideal location, extensive activities roster, and fabulous dining outlets, we are looking forward to returning for another staycation soon.  And hope you enjoy this resort as much as us!
