Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina, Ft. Myers Beach, Florida

Tom and I have been working hard for the past couple of months. Neither of us had visited the west coast of Florida, so we decided to spend a few days exploring the Fort Myers Beach area.

We stayed at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina. From the moment we drove onto the property to when we checked out, we had a pleasant stay. Upon check-in, instead of receiving ordinary room key cards, The Pink Shell Resort issues bracelets. The bracelets grant guests access to their room, the fitness center, and entry to the resort property from the beach. It can also be scanned for purchases to be billed to the room.

Following check-in, we were treated to welcome cocktails at Bongo’s, the resort’s bar and grill located poolside. There is no better way to start a relaxing stay than by sipping a tropical beverage while sitting in the warmth of the Florida sun.

Our room at the Pink Shell Resort was enormous! Upon entering our room, we were immediately drawn to a fantastic view of the ocean. Upon closer look of the room, we noticed our unit had a large living area, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, a spacious separate bedroom and bathroom. And for people who are germaphobes like me, we found out that the remote controls are coated with anti-microbial protection and the rooms are cleaned with UV sterilization wands. This is the first time we’ve seen this level of cleanliness at a hotel.

Each morning, Jack’s restaurant hosts an extensive breakfast buffet with views overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. It is a full-service spread, complete with an omelet and waffle station. After getting sustenance to start the day, why not spend time at the beach? The beach at the Pink Shell Resort is gorgeous. The sand is soft and powdery white. Unlike most resorts and hotels, the Pink Shell Resort does not charge for stand up paddleboards or kayaks. If you’re not into watersports, you can try your hand at tetherball or beach volleyball. Or lounge either on the beach or by the pool. For those wanting an excursion on the water, the Pink Shell Resort’s Marina can arrange a variety of trips, including a cruise to go dolphin watching or a fishing trip. For the ultimate pampering and relaxing experience, treat yourself to a treatment (or a day) at the resort’s Aquagene Spa.

Bongo’s signals the end of a beautiful day with the blowing of the conch shell at sunset. At this time, all guests are treated to a cocktail (alcoholic or not). Guests may also choose to celebrate the evening with a more intimate setting. The resort can arrange for dinner on the beach.
The highlight of our stay was to lounge on the beach at sunset while sipping on champagne and enjoying chocolate covered strawberries (this can be arranged as well). The evening was spectacular, with the colors changing from yellow, to orange, to red and purple. All within a few minutes! Thinking about our sunset on the beach experience makes me anxious to return for another visit!

Although you can have a fantastic trip staying on the resort, there are many restaurants to try and to sightsee to be had in Fort Myers. We highly recommend a visit to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. The property is impressive and includes homes, gardens, a laboratory, and a museum. The tour allowed us a glance into the personal and professional lives of these two innovators. For restaurants, we recommend a short walk down the beach from the Pink Shell Resort, where there are numerous bars and restaurants. We enjoyed Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grill. It’s located on a lovely marina, where we dined on tasty grilled and raw oysters. We also recommend Zushi Zushi for appetizers and refreshing cocktails.

The Pink Shell Resort and Marina provided the perfect getaway experience. The property is beautiful and located on a tranquil stretch of beach in Fort Myers. The staff was friendly and always available to meet our every need and desire. We were able to relax and do nothing when we wanted. However, it was equally comfortable to be active and enjoy the amenities of the resort as well as excursions off the property. Tom and I highly recommend a stay at the Pink Shell Resort and Marina in Fort Myers Beach. Discover the west coast of Florida for yourself… you’ll love it!
