Since we are interested in food, adventure, and culture, no other place fit the bill better than Bali, Indonesia.

After traveling for 25 hours from Los Angeles, we were ready to be pampered. Luckily, our first stop on the island was at the ultra-luxurious, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali in Nusa Dua.

Upon arrival until the time we departed, we were greeted with the most accommodating and friendly staff, beautiful architecture, stunning views of the Indian Ocean, and endless pampering.

The Property:

Located on a cliff-top perch, the resort is spread out on varying heights and takes full advantage of the Indian Ocean views. The magnificent, open-air lobby showcases a breathtaking view of the entire property. From the beautiful Balinese style villas to the pool and gardens, and out to the beach, guests are transported to a place of refined elegance and luxury.

The Location:

Distinctively Balinese, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali transported us to a place that embodies the spirit of the island. The people of Bali see the ocean as a source of life and a medium for spiritual renewal. The resort takes advantage of its’ oceanfront location in Nusa Dua with stunning views of the Indian Ocean. This is the first place that we have stayed where we saw the varying shades of blue and green. The water is clear and vibrant!

Equally as important is the ease to explore the local area. Although there isn’t anything within walking distance, Tom and I ordered a taxi service from the hotel to sightsee and dine at nearby restaurants. The service is very reasonable in price, something that was surprising to us! We ate at a local restaurant serving suckling pig, a Balinese specialty. We also visited nearby local beaches featuring water activities, including parasailing and jet skiing.

The Spa:

For the ultimate indulgence, we highly recommend getting a treatment (or spending the day!) at the spa. Tom and I spent one morning being kneaded into complete and glorious relaxation and rejuvenation. Our couples’ Balinese massage commenced with a cold washcloth and a tastiest milk tea. After lounging, we were escorted through a lovely garden to our expansive treatment suite, complete with showers, an enormous soaking tub, and treatment area. Once we changed into robes, we were treated to a beautiful foot soak and leg massage. And then, the main event…the massage! Tom and I selected a unique blend of oils to be worked into our muscles. Our sore and tired bodies were uplifted as the tightly bound knots slowly disappeared. After the session, we sipped on delicious ginger tea and nibbled on tasty sesame cookies. Our bodies, spirits, and bellies were fully charged and ready to experience and explore Bali fully!

The Club Lounge:

If you’ve been following us, you know we are fans of the club lounge experience. Once again, we were not disappointed. At The Ritz-Carlton, Bali, the club lounge features its’ own pool with a dedicated butler to care for you. Given the extreme heat and humidity (at least for us!), this was our favorite place to relax. The food and beverage offerings were extremely varied and delicious. Depending on the time of day, we satisfied our cravings for sushi, enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea experience, and chatted with staff and other guests while sipping on sparkling wine. The lounge also has a dedicated concierge, which helped us plan our island excursions. The bespoke service and attention are what the club lounge experience is all about. And The Ritz-Carlton, Bali went above and beyond any expectations we had. The personalized care, private pool, and food and beverage service are worth every penny!

Club Lounge The Ritz-Carlton, Bali in Nusa Dua

Honestly, we were incredibly surprised by the quality and value available at the resort. Typically, we find resort food to be extremely sterile and pricy. Not here! Beginning with breakfast, the expansive buffet satisfies all. The variety of pastries, yogurts, and fruits was dizzying. However, it doesn’t end there. Catering to an international clientele, there were items to please Australians (marmite), Great Britains (sausage and beans), Americans (omelets and waffles), and Asians (typical Japanese and Indonesian fare). The lounge overlooking the Indian Ocean was perfect for a quick snack and pre-dinner cocktails. Raku, the Japanese restaurant, satisfied Tom’s craving for noodles. And Bejana, the Indonesian restaurant, served “local” cuisine that frankly, we preferred over our extreme adventures (which is a first for us!). There are several other outlets that we didn’t have time to try but are sure they’re equally satisfying.

As with other Ritz-Carlton properties, the personalized experience and exquisite accommodations were fantastic. However, our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Bali was exceptionally unique and luxurious. The location, the staff, and the feeling of being utterly and wholly indulged and pampered made our stay over the top exceptional. Although we are speaking as a couple, we witnessed several families enjoying the property, as well as a stunning wedding party and a corporate retreat. Although active, the property felt like our private oasis. We highly recommend The Ritz-Carlton, Bali for an extraordinary beach getaway.
