We typically use sources on the internet to plan our trips, both planned and spontaneous. There are an incredible amount of apps available that can assist with locating hotels, restaurants, markets, and fun events. Below are some of our favorites, and more can be seen in our blog.


luggageforwardLuggage Forward – Door-to-door luggage shipping is the convenient, affordable alternative to carrying and checking bags!

Hotwire – A great option for your last minute hotel options or other travel needs

Kayak – Another great App that we use to make and compare our flight, hotels and car needs

Hotel Tonight – We continue to see this App expand their base along with improving their options


Yelp – We have been using this App for quite some time now and continue to be very impress with the results of our search from restaurants to hotels.  The team at Yelp are also seem to be quite pro-active in listening to their users.


When we travel outside the US, 3 apps for communication back to the US have been used successfully for free as long as you are able to locate a “free” WiFi location. Make sure your friends and family with whom you wish to communicate also have the app! Try it out before you leave the country. They are:
